The Rick Weaver Award
Dear Colleagues,
It is the NEHOUA Committee’s mission to promote education for underwriting talent, and we are pleased to once again offer the Rick Weaver Award to a deserving underwriter. We will start accepting applications May 31st 2023. For those who are not familiar with Rick, he was a promoter of continued growth and education in the underwriting field. The intent of this award is to engage the underwriting community by sharing evolving underwriting techniques on key topics as well as recognizing and embracing the continuous changes of our profession while honouring our friend and colleague Rick’s memory and passion.
To be considered for the Rick Weaver Award, applicants must complete an essay not to exceed 1,500 words, double spaced, on any underwriting topic of their choice (non-medical, medical, financial, etc.).
For those of you who prefer a given topic this year’s is “Impact of Electronic Health Records on day-to-day underwriting”.
If choosing your own topic, please provide a basis for why the topic was chosen and a recommendation for how to underwrite the topic selected.
All essays must be submitted by September 15th 2023. Applicants must provide their full name, title, company, phone number and how long they have been an underwriter.
To qualify, the applicant must meet one of the following criteria:
- Be an underwriter located in the Northeastern U.S.,
- Be an employee working for any of our NEHOUA Sponsors,
- Be a NEHOUA member,
- Be involved in day-to-day underwriting production and NOT hold a management position.
The winner of the Rick Weaver Award will be sponsored by NEHOUA to attend the Annual AHOU Meeting held in Boston, MA, May 5th to 9th 2024. The award includes coverage for the conference fee, three-night hotel accommodations, and airfare.
